Can an Android tablet be a second monitor?

Yes. DeskJoin Screen creates an additional display on a compatible Mac and shows that desktop on an Android tablet. It is useful when you want more workspace without carrying another computer monitor.

This is an extended desktop, not simply a copy of the Mac screen. Move a window past the edge of the Mac display and it appears on the Android tablet.

Step-by-step setup

How to use an Android tablet as a second monitor for a Mac

Step 1

Install DeskJoin Screen on the Mac

Install DeskJoin Screen on the Mac whose desktop you want to extend. The Mac creates the additional display and sends it to the Android tablet.

Step 2

Install DeskJoin Screen on the Android tablet

Download the signed APK on a tablet running Android 10 or later. If Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install apps from this source, then open the APK.

Step 3

Connect both devices to the same network

Connect the Mac and Android tablet to the same reachable local Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, then open DeskJoin Screen on both devices.

Step 4

Start Extend from the Mac

On the Mac, choose Extend and select the Android tablet. The extended Mac desktop will appear on the tablet.

Step 5

Arrange the second display

Open Displays settings on the Mac to place the Android screen to the left or right of the main display and choose a comfortable resolution.

Choose a comfortable tablet resolution

A tablet can have a high-resolution screen in a relatively small size. If text looks too small, open Displays settings on the Mac and choose a scaled resolution that is comfortable to read.

For the smoothest result, keep both devices close to a strong Wi-Fi access point and avoid a congested network. DeskJoin Screen keeps the display connection on your local network rather than uploading the screen to a cloud service.
